Your first 10 Malayalam words
Read the script first, then use the English sound spelling and meaning to check yourself. Listen plays the whole word. Choose two or three words for one practice session and return for the rest.
Find familiar forms inside each word
The Malayalam word lessons include joined forms and words with chillu endings. A compact written shape can hold more information than a single consonant card. Compare a word with its recording, then revisit the joined-form lesson when a shape is unfamiliar.
Read two familiar Malayalam words side by side and find their shared opening shape.
- മല — mala, mountain. ma-la
- മരം — maram, tree. ma-ram
Point to the forms you recognise, listen once, and read the word again. Use the consonant chart or vowel-sign chart to check a familiar part.
Read, remember, and check
- Choose two words and say them with their recordings.
- Cover the sound spelling and read the Malayalam again.
- Cover the English meaning and see whether you remember it.
- Use a word lesson or the word-stage quiz to practise recall in a new order.
This is a small reading vocabulary, not a phrasebook or a complete language course. Repeat a few familiar words before adding more.
